Online Transformer Dryout System – Another Successful Commissioning
in the Power Generation Sector
Continuing the series of field case studies, we are pleased to share another successful implementation of our Online Transformer Dryout System (TDS) executed without requiring any shutdown of the transformer.
📅 Commissioned On: June 2010.
📍 Location: Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Power Plant, PSEB – Ropar
🏭 Transformer Rating: 250 MVA, 15.75/230 kV (Generating Transformer)
🛢 Oil Volume: ~60,000 litres
The key objective of this deployment was to reduce moisture content in the transformer oil and insulation system during live operation thereby improving reliability without any disruption to the power plant.

We are pleased to share that the customer acknowledged the following improvements:
✔ Significant enhancement in BDV (Breakdown Voltage) values
✔ Noticeable reduction in moisture (PPM) levels
✔ Processing completed fully online with zero outage
This project once again validates the growing adoption of online predictive and preventive maintenance technologies, particularly for critical transformers where shutdowns are operationally impractical or economically unviable.
