through Online Dehydration at PGCIL Moga Substation

At PTss, we continue to lead the way in preventive maintenance practices for high-voltage equipment. One such milestone was the successful online dehydration of a 50 MVAR/400 kV BHEL Line Reactor at the Moga Substation-a strategic intervention that demonstrated measurable improvements in insulation and oil parameters. Small improvements make great impact.

This was achieved using our cartridge-type Transformer Dryout System, without taking the reactor offline-emphasizing efficiency, reliability, and smart grid maintenance practices.

  • Moisture (PPM): Reduced from 12 ppm to 6 ppm

  • Insulation Tan Delta: Improved from 0.621 to 0.402

  • Oil Power Factor: Reduced from 0.02296 to 0.0143

  • Interfacial Tension: Increased from 28.8 to 31.3 Dynes/cm

  • Specific Resistivity @ 90°C: Improved from 0.819 × 10¹² to 1.9 × 10¹² Ohm-cm

  • Pressboard Power Factor (PFP): Reduced from 1.196% to 0.7897%, indicating substantial moisture reduction from insulation
